LOT 582 EMBROIDERED NEOCLASSICAL COTTON GOWN, 1799 - 1810.
Regency style in delicate muslin (probably Bengali) having allover sprigged Broderie Anglaise, short sleeve with three pairs of inside ties to adjust a double puff, ruffled edge, back tie at neckline and high waist, ruched band above slightly trained hem with scalloped sawtooth border, cotton bodice lining. Provenance: A companion dress, from the same prominent Philadelphia/Baltimore family, is on display at Winterthur (item 2011.38.1). B-34, high W-28, L 50-54. (Period repair on left sleeve, small mended tear just below waist, minor mends and tears at hem, bodice lining has 1/2 inch L-shaped tear and a few tiny splits).
